Buddy Mohmed & American Bedouin

Buddy Mohmed & American Bedouin

Bedouin is the Arabic name for the desert Gypsies who travel from place to place, picking up bits and pieces of culture and infusing it into their own distinct identity.
American Bedouin is Buddy Mohmed’s critically acclaimed Dallas band that incorporates elements of music from around the world, and around our neighborhood, and fuses it into their own musical identity.
Incorporating styles from Africa, the Middle-East, Greece, India, Europe and beyond; mixing them with the American tradition of Jazz and Blues improvisation, American Bedouin creates an exciting acoustical blend of rich textures, exotic melodies and soaring virtuosity.
American Bedouin recently (April-May, 2003) completed a six week run at the historic “Lamb’s Theater” in New York, where they performed original music for the off-Broadway production “Down a Long Road”.

“The musicians are excellent, and the music they play is the perfect blend of different cultures, evoking a thousand images with each note.” Kelly McAllister, nytheater.com

“It's alternately exuberant, eerie and galvanizing, and incorporates everything from Middle Eastern tonalities to James Brown tunes.” Tom Sime, Dallas Morning News
